Objectius:

The objectives of this report are detect, analyze and summarize the counterfeit around the world and to promote the awareness about this topic.
Counterfeit and pirated products come from many economies however it will be analyzed which countries lead this market and in wich industry they stand out the most. Also will be verify if, as is commonly supposed, China is the largest producing market of those goods or not. It will be scrunitzed in which industries those illegal products can be found. Moreover it was considered that as they do have a little or no proof of its reliability they should be contemplated as unsafe and should be retired as soon as found. Another point to test is that if these affects to all business what and how piece can buy a simple day a day product lead to enforce the selling of hazardous goods.

Hipòtesi:
  • Counterfeit and pirated products come from many economies
  • However there must be some countries that lead this market. I supposed China as the largest producing market.
  • These illegal products have to be found in a range of industries.
  • They affect from luxury items to intermediary products and also day a day consumer goods.
  • They do have a little or no proof of its reliability.
  • They are unsafe.
  • They should be retired as soon as found. Another point I consider is that
  • Not doing anything to stop this market helps it to expand.
El procés:

First of all I asked myself a simple question What do all the different types of industries in the world have in common? From  fashion clothing, shoes and accessories industry, the music and movie industries, the spaceship industry, the computer software industry, the cat food industry, the auto industry, the aircraft industry, the medical industry and the Department of Energy? The answer was counterfeit goods. Once I had this question answered I continued by analyzing what were those goods if they were differtent sorts of them, what were those and finally where and how do they affect ourselves and our industries.

I came up with the list of the 25 most affected industries starting by Counterfeit Drugs(1), Electronics, Auto parts(2), etc. Also I found out the money they cost to every one of us (2.5 million of job losses per year), the lives and the job loses that these market causes each year of us and the risks we face when we come acros them.

To support my investigation I interviewed experts in the field from arround the world Spain, Sweden, USA, etc. They answer a interview with eleven questions that vary from they personal experience to what they belived each one of us should do to minimize the impact of those goods in the world. That helped myself to arrive to.

Conclusions:

We often think that those counterfeit products are banal and have no impact in the extent and the growth of this market. However an extent of these report has been used to explain some real and hazardous examples to prove the huge impact that those counterfeit products have as a intent of stirring the awareness between the readers. Complemented with the professional interviews it stands out clearly that we do have a tremendous long path to walk before accomplishing a total awareness of this topic and posterior eradication of this market.
However there are some indicators that reassures us that we are on our track to reduce the affectation of those problems. Using the world known slogan “think globally, act locally” and making sure that any irregular operation is done without being reported the affectation will decrease faster that we can imagine.
I am fully sure that if we end up seeing, understanding and after internalising the real risks involved in those counterfeit market, we will never return to be as tolerant with it as we are now. We will act in consequence protecting us from those goods because no one anywhere anytime is fully secure of not being grievously affected by some kind of counterfeit goods. And whatever is worse if we do not stand up and do something to start the change the more disadvantaged people will not have other option that get involved with this market and end up with at least serious health and economical problems.
