Les plantes, com qualsevol \u00e9sser viu, necessiten mantenir un estat d\u2019hidrataci\u00f3 adequat per mantenir la turg\u00e8ncia i realitzar les funcions vitals.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019obtenci\u00f3 d\u2019aigua es fa per les arrels. Aquesta captaci\u00f3 d\u2019aigua comporta tamb\u00e9 l\u2019absorci\u00f3 de nutrients minerals del s\u00f2l.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/transpiracio.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-11041 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/transpiracio.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"137\" \/><\/a>La p\u00e8rdua d\u2019aigua es produeix b\u00e0sicament a trav\u00e9s de les fulles per un proc\u00e9s anomenat transpiraci\u00f3.\u00a0 Concretament aquesta p\u00e8rdua d\u2019aigua es produeix a trav\u00e9s dels estomes. Aquests s\u00f3n petits porus situats principalment al revers de les fulles que permeten l\u2019intercanvi de gasos necessari per fer la fotos\u00edntesi (obtenci\u00f3 del CO<sub>2<\/sub> i alhora alliberament del O<sub>2<\/sub>). Inevitablement aix\u00f2 provoca que l\u2019aigua que envolta la superf\u00edcie interna dels estomes s\u2019evapori. La transpiraci\u00f3 \u00e9s un fenomen inevitable necessari per poder realitzar la fotos\u00edntesi i que provoca el flux d\u2019aigua des de les arrels fins a les fulles per capil\u00b7laritat. Tot i que la transpiraci\u00f3 \u00e9s un proc\u00e9s passiu, la planta pot controlar-la regulant l\u2019obertura i tancament dels estomes en funci\u00f3 de la disponibilitat d\u2019aigua. La transpiraci\u00f3 t\u00e9 tamb\u00e9 una funci\u00f3 refrigerant a les fulles. Per tant s\u2019ha d\u2019entendre la transpiraci\u00f3 no com una p\u00e8rdua d\u2019aigua sin\u00f3 com una necessitat fonamental pel funcionament de les plantes.<\/p>\n<p>El clima mediterrani es caracteritza per l\u2019escassetat d\u2019aigua sobretot durant el per\u00edode estival. Aquesta manca d\u2019aigua pot ser molt severa i pot comprometre la superviv\u00e8ncia de les plantes. Per superar aquest repte la vegetaci\u00f3 mediterr\u00e0nia ha\u00a0 desenvolupat diverses mecanismes amb l\u2019objectiu de reduir la deshidrataci\u00f3. Aquesta vegetaci\u00f3 adaptada a l\u2019escassetat h\u00eddrica es coneix com vegetaci\u00f3 xer\u00f2fila.<\/p>\n<p>Quins s\u00f3n aquests mecanismes dels xer\u00f2fits?<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019una banda es troben mecanismes per augmentar l\u2019abastament d\u2019aigua. Una tend\u00e8ncia general \u00e9s la disminuci\u00f3 de les parts a\u00e8ries respecte les subterr\u00e0nies. Cal fer esment del paper de les micorrizes (associaci\u00f3 mutualista entre fongs i arrels) \u00e9s especialment important en el sentit\u00a0 que permet incrementar la captaci\u00f3 d\u2019aigua i nutrients.<\/p>\n<p>Una altra estrat\u00e8gia \u00e9s emmagatzemar aigua. Trobem exemples de plantes suculentes que acumulen aigua a la tija o les arrels, com \u00e9s el cas de l\u2019atzavara (<em>Agave americana<\/em>), \u00a0el crespinell (<em>Sedum sp.<\/em>) o la figuera de moro (<em>Opuntia ficus-indica<\/em>).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11033\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11033\" style=\"width: 231px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/farigola.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11033 \" src=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/farigola.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"231\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11033\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Farigola<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>D\u2019altra banda, una tend\u00e8ncia que mostra la vegetaci\u00f3 xer\u00f2fil\u00b7la \u00e9s reduir al m\u00e0xim les p\u00e8rdues de mat\u00e8ria org\u00e0nica elaborada. En aquest sentit s\u2019observa una gran predomini de plantes perennes. Tamb\u00e9 abunden les plantes amb ess\u00e8ncies i re\u00efnes que intenten evitar aix\u00ed l\u2019acci\u00f3 dels herb\u00edvors. \u00c9s el cas de la farigola (<em>Thymus vulgaris<\/em>), roman\u00ed (<em>Rosmarinus officinalis<\/em>), esp\u00edgol (<em>Lavandula angustifolia<\/em>), sajolida (<em>Satureja montana<\/em>), llorer (<em>Laurus nobilis<\/em>), lletereses (<em>Euphorbia sp<\/em>). Amb la intenci\u00f3 de repel\u00b7lir la voracitat dels herb\u00edvors i conservar les valuoses fulles s\u2019ent\u00e9n tamb\u00e9 la abund\u00e0ncia de plantes espinoses.<\/p>\n<p>Un altre cas \u00e9s de de les estepes (<em>Cistus sp<\/em>) \u00a0que presenten semimarcesc\u00e8ncia estival que fa que les fulles perdin la seva turg\u00e8ncia i estiguin mig pansides, reduint la deshidrataci\u00f3 per\u00f2 tamb\u00e9 la seva activitat.<\/p>\n<p>Per\u00f2 la majoria del mecanismes per estalviar aigua es manifesten en les fulles, que s\u2019anomenen esclerofil\u00b7les, i que van dirigits a disminuir la transpiraci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Els trets m\u00e9s destacables s\u00f3n els seg\u00fcents:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11035\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11035\" style=\"width: 192px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/romani1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11035 \" src=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/romani1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"192\" height=\"266\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11035\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fulles de roman\u00ed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11034\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11034\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/alzina2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11034 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/alzina2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11034\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alzina<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8211; fulles cori\u00e0cies (endurides) amb parets m\u00e9s gruixudes i amb major acumulaci\u00f3 de (fenols) lignina. Aquestes fulles robustes amb major pes espec\u00edfic s\u00f3n m\u00e9s resistents a la p\u00e8rdua de turg\u00e8ncia en condicions d\u2019estres h\u00eddric. \u00c9s el cas de l\u2019alzina (<em>Quercus ilex<\/em>) o el \u00a0garric (<em>Quercus coccifera<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; reducci\u00f3 de la mida de la fulla: la reducci\u00f3 de la superf\u00edcie foliar es manifesta en la abund\u00e0ncia de fulles estretes, \u00a0aciculars o escamoses. S\u00f3n exemples l\u2019esparraguera (Asparagus acutifolius), roman\u00ed (<em>Rosmarinus officinalis<\/em>), farigola (<em>Thymus vulgaris<\/em>) i \u00a0ginesta (<em>Spartium junceum<\/em>). La reducci\u00f3 pot ser total i\u00a0 llavors la tija presenta color verd i assumeix la funci\u00f3 fotosintetitzadora. En aquest casos sovint les fulles es transformen en espines, com la gatosa (<em>Ulex parviflorus<\/em>) o l\u2019argelaga (<em>Genista scorpius<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>A la vegada les fulles petites s\u00f3n m\u00e9s eficients en l\u2019intercanvi de vapor, de tal manera que s\u2019afavoreix la refrigeraci\u00f3 de les fulles.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; reducci\u00f3 de la mida dels estomes i concentraci\u00f3 en el revers de les fulles. Sovint aquests es localitzen en concavitats, com en el cas del baladre (Nerium oleander) o cavitats formades pel marge recargolat de la pr\u00f2pia fulla.\u00c9s el cas del roman\u00ed (<em>Rosmarinus officinalis<\/em>), borr\u00f3 (<em>Ammophila arenaria<\/em>) o fen\u00e0s (<em>Brachypodium phoenicoides<\/em>). Aix\u00f2 permet formar cambres gaireb\u00e9 closes que mantenen un volum aire m\u00e9s humit al voltant dels estomes reduint aix\u00ed la transpiraci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11037\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11037\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/olivera.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11037 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/olivera.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11037\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fulla olivera<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Amb un prop\u00f2sit similar trobem la abund\u00e0ncia de p\u00e8ls al revers de les fulles. Aquesta pubesc\u00e8ncia crea una capa d\u2019aire imm\u00f2bil i humit al voltant dels estomes que redueix l\u2019evaporaci\u00f3. A m\u00e9s aquets p\u00e9ls fan de pantalla reflectora dels raigs solars. Trobem exemples en l\u2019alzina (<em>Quercus ilex<\/em>), l\u2019olivera (<em>Olea europaea<\/em>) o l\u2019aladern (<em>Rhamnus alaternus<\/em>).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11036\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11036\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/aladern.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11036 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/serveiseducatius.xtec.cat\/cda-cansantoi\/wp-content\/uploads\/usu1385\/2019\/07\/aladern.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11036\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Aladern (fulles lluents)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8211; fulles llustroses i encerades per l\u2018anvers que impermeabilitzen la fulla i augmenten la reflexi\u00f3 dels rajos solars: aladern (<em>Rhamnus alaternus<\/em>), arbo\u00e7 (<em>Arbutus unedo<\/em>) o galzeran (<em>Ruscus aculeatus<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; modificar l\u2019orientaci\u00f3 de les fulles: una disposici\u00f3 m\u00e9s vertical de les fulles ofereix menys superf\u00edcie sobre la qual els raigs solars incideixen perpendicularment botja (<em>Dorycnium hirsutum<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Els ecosistemes dominats per la vegetaci\u00f3 esclerofil\u00b7la es caracteritza per la domin\u00e0ncia de perennifolis amb fulles sempre verdes, dures, petites, encerades per l\u2019anvers i piloses pel revers. Aquesta vegetaci\u00f3 presenta poca variaci\u00f3 estacional. Com major sigui l\u2019ariditat estival m\u00e9s marcats seran els car\u00e0cters x\u00e8rics presents. Un factor que cal tenir en compte del car\u00e0cter escler\u00f2fil\u00b7le de bona part dels vegetals mediterranis \u00e9s el lent proc\u00e9s de descomposici\u00f3 i per tant de retorn dels nutrients al s\u00f2l, fet que provoca un empobriment relatiu del s\u00f2l.<\/p>\n<p>Per saber-ne m\u00e9s podeu consultar:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Biosfera volum 5.
